Kremlin: Putin did not come up with a peace initiative on the conflict in Israel

Russian President Vladimir Putin has not yet come up with a peace initiative to resolve the Palestinian-Israeli conflict; for this it is necessary to understand the positions of the parties, said the Russian leader’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov.

“To come up with a peace initiative, you need to work it out with everyone, talk to everyone, you need to understand the positions of the parties. Therefore, the president has probably already formed a certain opinion based on the results of telephone conversations,” Peskov explained, adding that an exchange of views on the conflict will also take place with Chinese partners.

Peskov emphasized that they do not come up with initiatives for the sake of initiatives. According to him, the proposals are necessary to help the settlement, and for this it is necessary to “help get out of the state of a hot war.” “Therefore, relations between any countries will be welcome here. And Russia, as the president said, is ready to contribute its share to this process,” the Kremlin representative specified.

The Palestinian-Israeli conflict is long-standing and now a humanitarian tragedy is actually taking place, Peskov added. “Of course, these are all the consequences of more than one decade of neglect by a number of countries towards the Middle East settlement process,” he said.

The leaders of the countries unanimously declared the need for an early ceasefire and the establishment of a humanitarian truce for urgent assistance to all those in need.
