Kremlin: date of “straight line” with Putin has not yet been determined

The “straight line” with Russian President Vladimir Putin will take place this year, but its exact date has not yet been determined, said Dmitry Peskov, press secretary of the head of state.

“There are no exact dates yet. We will guide you,” he said.

Peskov was also asked to comment on reports that exhibitions from Gostiny Dvor were postponed from June 7 to 10, as it is needed due to “state necessity”, which may indicate that a “direct line” will be held at this time.

“I can’t tell you anything. You need to go there, directly to the owners of the site, ”Peskov replied.

How notes Interfax, in the first ten days of June, the exhibition-forum ARCH MOSCOW was supposed to be held, but its organizers postponed it to the period from May 24 to 27.

“Direct Line with Vladimir Putin” is a format in which the president answers questions from Russians and foreigners live. The first “straight line” was held in 2001, and then it took place every year, except for 2004 and 2012. In 2020, the Direct Line and Putin’s traditional big press conference were combined for the first time. In 2021, the event took place in June. Then, during the broadcast, the president answered 81 questions in just over four hours.

In 2022, there was no “direct line” and a big press conference with the participation of the president. In early August last year, Peskov reported that the “direct line” could be combined with a large press conference, but there was no exact decision on this issue yet. Also last year, there was no presidential address to the Federal Assembly. This year it took place February 21st.
