Kremlin: Controversy will grow in the West due to fatigue with Ukraine

Due to fatigue from the conflict in Ukraine and the financing of Kiev, contradictions will grow in Western countries, said Russian Presidential Press Secretary Dmitry Peskov, commenting on the short-term US budget, which does not provide funds for Ukraine.

“We have repeatedly said earlier that, according to our forecasts, fatigue from this conflict, fatigue from the completely absurd sponsorship of the Kiev regime will grow in different countries, including the United States. This fatigue will lead to fragmentation of the political establishment and growing contradictions,” he said.

At the same time, Peskov stressed that the temporary US budget without funds for Ukraine is a temporary phenomenon, Washington will continue its involvement in the conflict.

On September 30, the US Congress managed to agree on a short-term budget that will allow the US government to work for the next 45 days before the next vote, Vedomosti wrote. The initiative, introduced by House Speaker Kevin McCarthy (Republican), does not include funding for Ukraine. US President Joe Biden declared the inadmissibility of cutting off aid to Kyiv and called on McCarthy to “keep his word to the Ukrainian people” and promote the approval of the next funding package through a separate special law. It is expected to be unveiled soon.

The decision of the Congress does not mean a stop to aid to Ukraine, since part of the funding goes through alternative channels, noted experts interviewed by Vedomosti. The head of the European Union’s foreign policy service, Josep Borrell, said, in turn, that the EU will continue to provide support to Ukraine, as well as work with the United States so that Washington continues to help Kyiv. Russian Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov noted that the United States will continue to support Ukraine.
