Kotyakov named the number of new jobs by 2030

In the future, until 2030, the demand for labor will grow, said Minister of Labor and Social Protection Anton Kotyakov on September 21 during a meeting of the State Council on the development of the labor market. By this time, the economy’s personnel requirement will amount to 73.6 million jobs, which is 2.4 million more workers than at the end of 2022. The economy’s demand for labor at that time amounted to 71.2 million jobs, a representative of the Ministry of Labor specified.

New vacancies will be created by the manufacturing industry, logistics enterprises, healthcare and the IT sector, the minister noted. The greatest need for employees will be in manufacturing, where almost 800,000 new vacancies will appear. An additional 400,000 people will be needed for companies involved in transportation and storage, an influx of 285,000 personnel will be needed for the health and social services sector, and for scientific research and the IT sector – 430,000.

“A critical challenge for the education and employment systems is preventing unsatisfied demand for labor,” Kotyakov emphasized in his speech. According to him, due to the demographic decline of the 90s. the number of citizens aged 30 to 39 will decrease by 7.2 million by 2030. At the same time, the number of Russians aged 15-29 will increase by almost 3 million, and this is a “window of opportunity” for smoothing out the structural imbalance in the labor market, the official noted.

Today, manufacturing enterprises, as well as construction and transport companies, are in dire need of personnel. To provide for them and other employers, the need for personnel should become the main criterion for targeted admission to universities, the head of the Ministry of Labor added. At the same time, it is necessary to popularize professions in demand by the state through, for example, professional competitions.

In turn, the Chairman of the State Council Commission on Social Policy, Governor of the Novgorod Region Andrei Nikitin asked to make the labor mobility program, which allows Russians in search of work to move to work in other municipalities within the subject, interregional.

Earlier, opening a meeting of the State Council, Russian President Vladimir Putin emphasized that the meeting “is taking place against the backdrop of record low unemployment.” In July, according to Rosstat, it amounted to 3% – this is a historical minimum in the entire history of observations of the indicator. The head of state called the situation “one of the most important indicators of the effectiveness of our entire economic policy and its social dimension.” He called the transition “within the horizon of the current decade” to high wages a systemic task. This is the most important guideline for domestic companies and all levels of government when developing economic and social policy measures, he said.
