The suspension of the issuance of certificates for the export of carcasses of broiler chickens and their parts is stated in the copies of the documents of the Department of Veterinary and Food Supervision of the Ministry of Agriculture and Food of the country that Kommersant has. The same letters indicate that the restrictions will not apply to the products of the Servolux Agro group of companies (Petrukha brand).
Belarus is one of the main suppliers of poultry meat to Russia. Kommersant experts expect that supply restrictions from Minsk could lead to an increase in the cost of chicken in Russia, which has been observed since the end of 2022.
However, the real reason may be the alleged bird flu, which, according to two interlocutors of Kommersant, has spread in certain industries.
The Rosselkhoznadzor informed the publication that they had not received reports from the Belarusian side about the restriction of supplies and the occurrence of epizootic foci. The department noted that Russian producers are fully coping with demand in the domestic market, and exporting excess volumes, including to Belarus.
About rising prices for broiler meat indicated Vedomosti experts. Market analysts attributed the situation to an increase in export deliveries. Andrey Sokolov, senior partner of AD Libitum, said that the depreciation of the ruble makes Russian products more attractive on the foreign market.
