“Kommersant” announced an overabundance of iPhone in the Russian market

Demand in Russia for the iPhone has declined, and there is an oversupply of premium smartphones. About it informs Kommersant, citing a source in the electronics market.
“Now the company’s products are being transported all in a row under the guise of anything. Previously, Apple strictly controlled the supply, organizing them in proportion to demand or less than it, ”said the source.
TelecomDaily CEO Denis Kuskov confirmed to Kommersant that iPhone supply exceeds demand. He noted that demand has fallen, in particular, for the iPhone 13 and 14.
At the same time, prices should not be expected to drop, Kuskov believes, since the dollar and euro are growing, and the brand belongs to the premium segment. The M.Video-Eldorado group confirmed that the availability of smartphones satisfies the current demand, and re:Store is seeing a shortage of some models, for example, the iPhone 14 Pro Max.
GS Group reports showed that Apple holds 11% of the smartphone market in Russia. In the first quarter of 2023, 700,000 iPhones were imported into the country, which is 30% less than a year earlier.
Apple officially suspended deliveries of its equipment to Russia in March 2022. The company did not officially announce its withdrawal from the market, but introduced restrictions for Apple Pay and payment for subscriptions in the App Store.
Due to a number of foreign companies, the country’s government legalized the parallel import mechanism. This scheme allows certain goods to be brought into the country without the permission of foreign rights holders.
Some foreign intermediaries refused to supply iPhones to Russia through parallel imports, wrote Izvestia in March. The reason for the refusal of foreign companies to work with Russian ones was the new US sanctions imposed on February 24, 2023, which prohibit the import of devices worth more than $300 into Russia.
