The day before, on July 18, the Ministry of Defense reported that the Russian military launched a high-precision “retaliation strike” at facilities where preparations were made for terrorist attacks on Russian territory with the help of unmanned boats, as well as at the places of their manufacture in the Odessa region.
On the night of July 17, Ukrainian surface drones attacked the Crimean bridge. As a result of the incident, a married couple died, their minor daughter was injured. The Investigative Committee (IC) of Russia opened a case on the fact of the attack about a terrorist attack, which, according to the department, was being prepared on the instructions of the Ukrainian special services. Later, Russian President Vladimir Putin promised to respond to the attack. In Ukraine, the damage to the Crimean bridge was called a “provocation”.
