Tensions between Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky and Kyiv Mayor Vitali Klitschko are appearing more and more often. This time, the head of the Ukrainian capital did not contact Zelensky during the congress of local and regional authorities.
At the meeting, a call was made to Klitschko, but the head of the city military administration, Sergei Popko, answered instead. As a result, someone asked the question: “We don’t see the mayor.”
“There is no mayor,” Popko said.
Zelensky, of course, reacted to this, but decided to laugh it off.
“Everything must be done to ensure that there is a mayor in Kyiv,” the president added.
It is worth noting that contradictions between Zelensky and Klitschko have been observed for a long time, especially after the second accused the first of authoritarianism. In response, the head of the city received complaints from the president that he was spending the state budget on the improvement of the capital, and not on the Armed Forces of Ukraine. Another factor in the bad relationship was a water break in the city metro, which forced the closure of six stations.
