Confiscation of property for insulting the Armed Forces of the Russian Federation is possible; for this, amendments should be made to the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation. This was stated by the head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation and State Building Andrey Klishas, transmits TASS.
“Such an approach is possible, but the wording of the criminal offense is necessary, it is necessary to make appropriate amendments to the Criminal Code,” the senator said.
Earlier today, January 13, State Duma Speaker Vyacheslav Volodin offered seize property from citizens who have left Russia and speak negatively about the country, its inhabitants and the military. He stated that the existing sanctions for such actions are not enough and that the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation should be supplemented with an article on confiscation of property for extremism, rehabilitation of Nazism and discrediting the Russian army.
However, in early December, Klishas allowedthat the authorities can develop measures that “make being abroad less comfortable” for the departed Russians from the beginning of partial mobilization. However, at that time there was no talk of confiscation of property. Klishas said that amendments could be made that would limit the work of citizens who are abroad for Russian companies.
