Klishas again declared the illegality of the seizure of property from the departed Russians

Andrey Klishas, head of the Federation Council Committee on Constitutional Legislation, once again stated that he considers it unlawful to confiscate the property of Russian citizens who have left the country. To confirm his words, Mr. Klishas referred to the current legislation of Russia.
“It is only possible to confiscate from citizens the instrument of crime or the income received from criminal activity. This is Russian law. The confiscation of property of citizens who left the country is out of the question. Contradicts the Constitution and the Law,” Andrei Klishas wrote in his Telegram-channel.
A similar statement by the senator done the day before, 29 December. Then he stressed that the proposal to confiscate for the needs of the military operation the property of Russians who criticize the country from abroad is unconstitutional.
Mr. Klishas voiced his position in response to the proposal of the senator from the Crimea, Sergei Tsekov. Except Mr. Tsekov similar ideas voiced Deputy Chairman of the Security Council Dmitry Medvedev. He believes that Russians who have left the country and want it to lose in the conflict with Ukraine should be considered public enemies.
