Kiriyenko said that armed guards will appear in Donbass schools by September 1

Armed guards will work in every school in the Donbass and territories of Ukraine that are under Russian control from the beginning of the school year, informed Sergei Kiriyenko, First Deputy Head of the Presidential Administration of the Russian Federation.

“The president [РФ] gave a separate instruction to the Ministry of Internal Affairs, the National Guard to ensure the safety and security of all schools in all five regions. This means that every school from September 1 must have at least two armed guards at all times. These are the National Guard and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Russia, and the Ministry of Internal Affairs of the DPR and LPR, and specially selected licensed private security companies, ”Kiriyenko said in a video message to the teachers of Donbass at a workshop in Sirius (TASS quote).

According to him, Russia has allocated special funding to provide schools with security. Kiriyenko added that not all schools will be able to start full-fledged work, as shelling continues in some areas.

Training in certain areas of the DPR, the Kherson region and part of the districts of the Zaporozhye region will be combined, said the first deputy head of the presidential administration.

“It will turn out such a combined story that either the school starts working on September 1, then switches to a remote or mixed system, or we will transport the children to schools in the nearest districts, where it is calm,” Kiriyenko said.

The transition to unified Russian curricula in the Donetsk and Lugansk People’s Republics (DNR and LNR) will take five years, declared former Minister of Education of Russia Sergey Kravtsov. 584 schools and 34,000 teachers will start working in the DPR from September 1. According to Kravtsov, 160,000 schoolchildren will go to study in the republic this year.

The ministry added that through the Ministry of Education, LDNR teachers are being retrained according to Russian educational standards, schools are being supplied with textbooks and fiction.

On June 1, the Russian government approved a draft agreement between Russia and the DPR on the mutual recognition of education and qualifications. On July 6, the Cabinet of Ministers approved the signing of a similar document with the LPR.
