First Deputy Head of the Russian Presidential Administration Sergei Kiriyenko visited the Zaporozhye Nuclear Power Plant (ZNPP), where he held a meeting due to the increasing frequency of drone attacks, the plant’s press service reported in Telegram-channel. The parties discussed the current state of the Zaporizhia NPP, ensuring nuclear safety and the situation in the satellite town of the NPP Energodar.

The director of the plant, Yuriy Chernichuk, spoke about the ongoing actions aimed at ensuring safety and about plans for the development of the Zaporizhzhya NPP. The head of Energodar, Eduard Senovoz, reported on the situation in the city and plans for its development.

The Zaporizhzhya NPP has been under regular attacks over the past few days. 7 April during attack suffered three station employees, the dome of one of the power units was damaged. April 9 hit hit the roof of the training center building, where the reactor hall simulator is located. Kremlin named shelling of the Zaporizhzhya Nuclear Power Plant was a dangerous provocation and placed responsibility on the Ukrainian military. Ukraine its involvement denies.

Zaporozhye NPP is the largest nuclear power plant in Europe, which since October 2022 has been under the control of Rosenergoatom JSC (a subsidiary of Rosatom). Zaporozhye NPP is located in the Zaporozhye region on the shore of the Kakhovka reservoir, nearby is the satellite town of Energodar. Since March 2022, the station has been under shelling, and explosions are regularly heard near the station. Due to threats to nuclear security and shelling, several IAEA experts are present at the plant.
