North Korean leader Kim Jong-un left Pyongyang and headed to Russia in the second half of September 10, informs radio station “Voice of Korea”.
Kim Jong-un headed to Russia on a special train. He “will be accompanied by large cadres of the party, government and armed forces,” the publication said.
On September 4, the NYT reported on a possible visit of the North Korean leader to Russia and negotiations between Kim Jong-un and Vladimir Putin within WEF. Press Secretary of the Russian President Dmitry Peskov then refused to comment on this information.
On September 11, the South Korean TV channel YTN reported that a meeting between President Putin and Kim Jong-un could take place on September 13. The Kremlin’s website also announced the visit of the DPRK leader, but said that it would take place “in the coming days.”
Earlier today, Peskov said that the leaders of the two countries will primarily discuss bilateral relations.
In April 2019, Kim Jong-un met with Vladimir Putin in Vladivostok. It was the first meeting between the leaders of the two countries and the first trip of Kim Jong-un to Russia since he came to power in 2011.
