Kılıçdaroğlu demanded compensation from Erdogan for the moral damage caused to him by the election video
Turkish opposition single presidential candidate Kemal Kilicdaroglu on Wednesday filed a lawsuit against incumbent President Recep Tayyip Erdogan for 1 million Turkish liras ($50.2 thousand). In this amount, Kılıçdaroglu estimated the moral damage caused to him by Erdoğan’s pre-election sibling, who claims that the opposition politician is associated with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party banned in Turkey. This was told by the lawyer Kylychdaroglu Celal Kylych.
The lawyer said that Erdogan used “an edited and fake video” in his election campaign. The money won in the process is planned to be directed, according to Kylych, “to educate the children of our citizens who died in the fight against terrorism.”
Erdogan and Kılıçdaroglu will fight for the presidency in the second round of elections on May 28. In the first, none of them received more than 50% of the votes needed to win.
