Kiev explained why the EU did not impose sanctions against Rosatom

According to Ukrainian Foreign Minister Dmitry Kuleba, the EU authorities do not impose sanctions against Rosatom, since the Russian company services nuclear power plants in Europe.
Kuleba stressed that some partner companies of Ukraine, which provide assistance to a large extent, are partners of Rosatom and cooperate with it in the implementation of various projects. He noted the cynicism of the situation when Ukraine’s partner states simultaneously cooperate with a Russian state corporation.
The minister explained that the reason for the lack of sanctions against Rosatom is the presence of operating nuclear power plants in the European Union, which have remained under Russian service since the Soviet era. In addition, a Russian company is building a nuclear power plant in Hungary.
“In light of these three factors, no tangible sanctions against Rosatom have been imposed, although they are necessary. We take a tough position, and the president raises this issue in his conversations, we actively advocate the imposition of sanctions against Rosatom,” the minister said.
