The Ukrainian side is not considering the possibility of signing documents with Russia regarding the acquisition of two Russian-made nuclear reactors from Bulgaria. This is stated in the message of the Ukrainian “Energoatom”.
Earlier, Ukrainian expert Nikolai Shteinberg, chief engineer of the Chernobyl nuclear power plant in 1986-1987, told Ukrinform that if Bulgaria sells reactors to Ukraine, it is necessary to sign the relevant documents, since these products are subject to special export control.
Energoatom said in a statement that Kyiv is not negotiating on this issue and does not plan to sign any documents. At the same time, in the event of a deal, the placement of the reactors will be facilitated by the American company Westinghouse.
Earlier it was reported about the negotiations between Ukraine and Bulgaria on the sale to Kyiv of two Russian-made nuclear reactors, which remained unclaimed due to the termination of the construction of a nuclear power plant in the Bulgarian Belen. It was reported that the purchase of reactors will cost 600 million euros and can be made at the expense of the EU.
