Khusnullin announced an unreasonable increase in prices for building materials – Kommersant

Russian Deputy Prime Minister Marat Khusnullin said that prices for building materials in the country are “once again” rising unreasonably. The government has instructed governors to control price gouging locally. The Federal Antimonopoly Service (FAS) should also check the validity of price increases.

“We discussed the rising cost of building materials. This worries us, we see that the cement has grown again! We see that the fittings have grown, the pipes have grown. “This all affects the cost of housing,” Mr. Khusnullin told reporters at the “Russia” exhibition and forum at VDNH (quote from TASS).

In August, the Minister of Construction and Housing and Communal Services of Russia Irek Faizullin statedthat foreign equipment and construction materials will become more expensive due to the weakening of the ruble.

According to FAS, from January to October the price of reinforcement on average in Russia increased by 25%. According to monitoring by the National Association of Builders, in September, reinforcing steel prices increased by an average of 18.1%. In some cities, including Moscow, St. Petersburg, Kazan, prices increased by 20–25%. In this regard, the organization contacted the FAS. The agency promised to check the validity of the price increase.
