State Duma deputies Alexander Khinshtein And Nina Ostanina sent requests to the Prosecutor General’s Office of the Russian Federation and the TFR with a request to take control of the investigation into the incident with the detention of poachers on the border of Bashkiria and the Orenburg region. Politicians announced this on their pages in social networks.
On February 18, the violators were detained near the village of Tugustemir in the Tyulgansky district of the Orenburg region by inspectors of the Bashkir hunting supervision, who were conducting another raid in the hunting grounds, the republican ministry of nature management and ecology reported. According to the agency, two dead moose were in two snowmobiles. A little later, a third dead moose was found at the scene of the alleged crime in Bashkiria. Hunting weapons were also confiscated from the poachers. According to local media, the detainees are high-ranking regional officials. Currently, initial investigative actions are being carried out, it is planned to re-examine the scene.
The press service of the government of the Orenburg region does not comment on the situation, because they do not know which officials were detained.
At the end of October 2021, there was a loud scandal with a poacher politician. On the territory of the hunting farm “Lebedka” in the Lysogorsky district of the Saratov region was detained Russian State Duma deputy Valery Rashkin, who shot a moose. In April 2022, the Saratov court found the politician guilty under Part 2 of Art. 258 of the Criminal Code of the Russian Federation (illegal hunting committed by a group of persons by prior agreement) and sentenced him to three years of imprisonment with a suspended sentence of two years. In May 2022, the State Duma ahead of schedule deprived deputy powers.
