Kazakhstan exacerbated the position of Russian metallurgists

In the summer of 2022, Kazakh enterprises increased the supply of rolled steel to Russia, although the country’s domestic market is already crowded. As a result, such exports put strong pressure on Russian metallurgists, writes “businessman“.
In July, Kazakhstan sent 150,000 tons of steel to Russia, in annual terms, the volume of deliveries increased by 30 percent, in monthly terms – three times. The republic continued to increase exports to the Russian Federation in August as well.
These supplies seriously complicate the life of Russian metallurgists, as they have lost their main sales markets in Europe due to sanctions. As a result, they are forced to sell raw materials to Asia with significant logistics costs.
In March, the EU banned the import of Russian ferrous metal and finished steel products. As part of the recently adopted eighth package of sanctions, the ban was extended to most of the supply of steel products, including semi-finished products.
