The Kazakh authorities are planning to adopt a new tax code, which provides for a system of two-stage rates for calculating income taxes. At the meeting, the authorities discussed the possibility of increasing VAT and developing a luxury tax, reports press service Ministry of National Economy.

“For wages up to 40 million tenge per year, the income tax rate will remain at 10%. If the income is greater, then they plan to tax the difference at a rate of 15%,” the message states.

The meeting participants also discussed the introduction of a luxury tax in Kazakhstan. In particular, it is planned to increase tax rates on yachts and private aircraft, with the exception of agricultural ones, as well as introduce additional excise taxes on expensive alcohol and tobacco in the amount of 10% of their cost.

The authorities discussed a possible increase in VAT from 12% to 16% and differentiation of corporate income tax rates. It is noted that the VAT increase will directly affect only 5.5% of taxpayers in Kazakhstan.
