Kartapolov said there were no plans to mobilize in Russia

Mobilization is not planned in Russia, Andrey Kartapolov, chairman of the State Duma Committee on Defense, said on the air of Rossiya 24.

According to Kartapolov, the proposed changes to the military registration system, including electronic subpoenas, have nothing to do with this.

He also informedthat the updated rules for obtaining subpoenas to appear at military registration and enlistment offices will affect not only conscripts, but also all those liable for military service. On April 11, the parliament will consider in the second and third readings amendments to the law “On military duty and military service”, which assume that summonses will be sent, including by registered mail, to the MFC and electronically in a personal account at the “State Services”.

Partial mobilization in Russia was announced on 21 September 2022 and continued until the end of October. In total, it was planned to mobilize 300,000 people. On October 31, Russian President Vladimir Putin announced that the mobilization in Russia had been completed, according to him, a total of 318,000 people had been called up, as there were a large number of volunteers. After that, the Russian authorities repeatedly stated that the mobilization in Russia was completed. Back in the fall of 2022, Putin stressed that this issue had “been put to rest.”

The Kremlin has repeatedly spoken about the lack of discussion of a new wave of mobilization. In particular, in March, the press secretary of the Russian president, Dmitry Peskov, amid reports of the start of issuing subpoenas in some regions declaredthat there are no discussions of a new wave of mobilization in the Kremlin.
