Karjakin played chess on the front line in the NVO zone

Russian grandmaster Sergey Karyakin arrived at the zone of the special military operation and played with the fighters on the front line, the Russian Defense Ministry said in a statement.
Reportedly, Karyakin organized a master class for military personnel, and military personnel of the Central Military District became his rivals at the chessboard.
On June 2, Karjakin opposed participation in the World Cup due to the lack of a flag and national anthem, despite an invitation from the International Chess Federation (FIDE). On May 30, Karjakin received an invitation from FIDE, as he qualified for the tournament based on the results of the 2021 World Cup. The grandmaster must confirm his participation by June 2. Russian chess players will be able to play in the tournament, which will be held in Baku from July 29 to August 25, but only in neutral status.
The chess player noted that he had expressed this position many times, and it does not change. At the same time, he asked his subscribers to vote whether he should perform at the World Cup without national symbols. At the moment, the majority of Karjakin’s subscribers voted against his participation in the World Cup in a neutral status.
Recall that in 2022, Karjakin received a disqualification from FIDE due to the fact that he issued an open letter in support of the NWO and the policy of Russian President Vladimir Putin.
Karjakin in 2016, he won the Candidates Tournament and lost to the Norwegian Magnus Carlsen in the match for the world title. Also, the 33-year-old chess player is the owner of the World Cup in 2015, the world champion in rapid chess in 2012 and in blitz in 2016.
