The Armed Forces of Ukraine (AFU) shelled the territory of the Zaporozhye region at a time when the delegation of the International Atomic Energy Agency (IAEA), headed by Director General Rafael Grossi, was returning to Ukraine after a visit to the Zaporozhye nuclear power plant. About this TASS informed Renat Karchaa, Advisor to the General Director of the Rosenergoatom Concern.
“Ukraine has broken the silence regime. As soon as the IAEA mission with Grossi arrived at the border, it began. There was not just shelling, there was a fight. They had to wait,” he told the agency.
According to Karchaa, Grossi has already arrived in the Kyiv-controlled city of Zaporozhye. He also said that no one was hurt in the incident.
Today, June 15, the IAEA delegation headed by Grossi visited Zaporozhye NPP, this is the third visit of the agency’s mission headed by the head of the IAEA. Grossi today informed journalists that after the destruction of the Kakhovskaya hydroelectric power station in the Kherson region, a serious situation developed at the Zaporizhzhya NPP, but measures were taken to stabilize it.
14 June Permanent Representative of Russia to International Organizations in Vienna Mikhail Ulyanov confirmed information that Grossi’s visit to the Zaporozhye NPP was postponed “for some time.” He explained that the visit was postponed in order to “provide the Ukrainian side with additional time to better prepare to ensure the safe rotation of IAEA personnel to the ZNPP.”
