The Russian presidential elections should be canceled while the special operation is underway, said the head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov. The politician made this proposal during a flash mob in the center of Grozny, which was dedicated to the birthday of President Vladimir Putin, writes “RIA News”.
Voting can be carried out with one candidate – the current head of state, Kadyrov admitted.
“I propose now, when the SVO is underway, that we unanimously decide that we will have one candidate in the elections – Vladimir Vladimirovich Putin. Or temporarily cancel the elections, because we don’t have another person who could defend our country today,” he said.
Kadyrov also called Putin in his speech the wisest politician and warrior, an honest and correct person. In his opinion, the president “never abandons his own, tries as much as possible to preserve the team,” and also delves into all the problems of the regions as much as possible.
Presidential elections in Russia are scheduled for 2024. According to the law, the procedure takes place on the third Sunday of March, i.e. next year the elections may take place on March 17. The CEC has already begun preparations for the elections, CEC Chairman Ella Pamfilova said earlier.
On September 11, Putin’s press secretary Dmitry Peskov said that the president would make a decision on participating in the elections after voting dates were set and candidates were nominated. On the same day, Peskov noted that if Putin nominates his candidacy for the 2024 presidential elections, no one will be able to give him real competition.
