Kadyrov promised to fire officials whose children do not know the Chechen language

The head of Chechnya, Ramzan Kadyrov, said that he would dismiss officials from his team if their children do not know the Chechen language. According to him, such measures are related to the plans of the republican authorities to popularize the Chechen language.

“It happens that the children of my team’s representatives do not often know the Chechen language. I will begin to dismiss such officials from the team. First of all, parents should teach children their native language,” said Mr. Kadyrov (quoted from “Chechnya Today”).

The head of Chechnya noted that in kindergartens and schools of the republic, children are taught the Russian language, and parents “often encourage this.” “The generation that does not speak or think in the Chechen language has no future,” said Ramzan Kadyrov.

By decree of Ramzan Kadyrov, 2023 was declared the Year of the Chechen Language in the republic. The decision was made in order to “preserve, develop and popularize the Chechen language, culture and traditions of the Chechen people.” The decree provides for the organization of relevant events.

The day before, the final of the competition for knowledge of the Chechen language took place in Grozny. In the final, which consisted of three stages, it was necessary to write “how the participant came to the Chechen language,” identify the object in the photo using Chechen words, and translate the text. The winner of the competition received a reward of 5 million rubles.
