Fighters of the West-Akhmat battalion will be involved in the work to prevent sabotage attacks by the armed formations of Ukraine (VFU). About it informed Head of Chechnya Ramzan Kadyrov in his Telegram channel.
Kadyrov said that, on his instructions, State Duma deputy Adam Delimkhanov met with Belgorod Governor Vyacheslav Gladkov, as well as with representatives of the Ministry of Defense and the National Guard. The parties discussed issues of preventing breakthroughs by sabotage and reconnaissance groups (DRGs).
“This work will involve the fighters of the Zapad-Akhmat battalion of the Russian Defense Ministry, who, in close contact with other Russian units, will deal with this task. To date, we have developed the most effective measures of interaction that will significantly enhance security in the border areas,” Kadyrov added.
Kadyrov spoke about the idea of sending Chechen forces to the Belgorod region to fight groups of saboteurs on June 5. In his opinion, the elimination of saboteurs requires not only military, but also anti-terrorist experience, which the fighters of the republic’s units have. Earlier, a number of Telegram channels reported that battalion fighters began to arrive in the Belgorod region, citing local residents.
On May 22, the Ukrainian DRG penetrated into the Belgorod region, after which the regime of the counter-terrorist operation (CTO) was introduced there, which was valid for a day. As a result, according to the Ministry of Defense, over 70 saboteurs, four combat armored vehicles and five pickup trucks were destroyed. On June 4, the Ministry of Defense reported that an attempt to break through the Ukrainian DRG was repulsed, an artillery strike was carried out on it, as a result of which the enemy was “scattered and retreated.”
