On June 23, the investigative department of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on organizing an armed rebellion against the founder of Wagner PMC Yevgeny Prigozhin, who, in particular, announced a missile attack on one of the rear camps of a military company. Kadyrov, he said, had previously warned that “war is not the time to voice personal grievances and resolve disputes in our rear,” such actions could lead to “bloody consequences.”

He also called on the PMC fighters not to succumb to provocations and said that what is happening is not an ultimatum from the Ministry of Defense, but a challenge to the state, and everyone needs to rally against him around the president.

“Fighters of the Ministry of Defense and the Russian Guard in the Chechen Republic have already left for the zones of tension <...>The rebellion must be crushed, and if this requires tough measures, then we are ready! he said.

The Ministry of Defense stated that reports of attacks on Wagner PMC fighters are not true and are an “information provocation.” The Prosecutor General’s Office reported that the Investigation Department of the FSB of Russia opened a criminal case on the organization of an armed rebellion against Prigozhin. Press Secretary of the President of Russia Dmitry Peskov said that Vladimir Putin was informed about what was happening. Today, the Ministry of Defense urged Wagner PMC fighters to “show prudence” and contact the ministry or law enforcement agencies in order to safely return to their permanent deployment points.

Putin, in connection with the situation with the Wagner PMC and its founder, addressed the citizens of Russia, the personnel of the Armed Forces (AF), law enforcement agencies and special services, “to the soldiers and commanders who are now fighting in their combat positions.” He stated that all those who prepared an armed rebellion, “took the path of blackmail and terrorist methods”, will be punished – “they will answer both before the law and before our people.”
