Japan wants to continue cooperation on the International Space Station (ISS) after 2024. The director of the Moscow office of the Japan Aerospace Exploration Agency (JAXA), Yoshio Wada, noted that the American NASA is also in favor of this.
“At the moment, the Japanese side is still considering the option of extending the use of the ISS after 2024. The American agency NASA also supports the idea of extending the operation after 2024, while Russia and the European side are still thinking,” said Mr. Wada TASS within the framework of the Army-2022 forum. According to him, JAXA will gladly continue cooperation within the framework of the ISS if other agencies make a similar decision.
Head of Roscosmos Yury Borisov at the end of July announced Russia’s withdrawal from the ISS project after 2024. At the same time, the state corporation claimthat the actual withdrawal may take place in subsequent years. The decision will depend on the technical condition of the ISS.
