The Japanese authorities made a presentation to China because of the situation with reconnaissance balloons that have entered the country’s airspace for the past three years. Prime Minister Fumio Kishida announced this during a parliamentary hearing. writes Bloomberg.
“Analysis of the available information allows us to assume with a high degree of probability that unmanned balloons were launched by China. Through diplomatic channels, a representation was made to the Chinese government in which we demanded to refrain from repeating such situations, emphasizing their utter unacceptability,” Kishida said.
On February 14, the Ministry of Defense of the country published reportwhich cites three cases of violations of Japanese airspace by unknown aircraft – November 2019, January 2020 and September 2021. The agency said that the aircraft belonged to the Chinese army.
In early February, the United States recorded a Chinese balloon that exceeded commercial air travel standards. On February 4, he was shot down by the US Army. According to the Pentagon, the probe collected “important information” about the location of military installations. After the downing of the balloon, the Ministry of Defense of the People’s Republic of China reported an “overreaction” from the American authorities. The ministry also strongly protested and stated that China reserves the right to take the necessary further action.
