The Japanese ground forces and the US Marine Corps were unable to conduct joint exercises using the HIMARS MLRS. The reason was that they did not have shells that were supposed to be brought to the island of Hokkaido, where the exercises took place. This is reported by the Nikkei newspaper, referring to the Ministry of Defense.
According to the publication, during joint events between Japan and the United States, only MLRS MLRS were used, which, in terms of their technical characteristics, are similar to American salvo systems. As a result, 24 rockets were fired.
The exercises are held from October 1 to 14 at the Yausubetsu military training ground of Japan, located on the island of Hokkaido. In total, 3.5 thousand military personnel, as well as tiltrotor MV-22 Osprey, took part in joint military activities.
