Izvestia: banks in Kazakhstan and Vietnam stopped accepting Mir cards

The People’s Bank of Kazakhstan (Halyk Bank) and the Vietnamese BIDV stopped accepting Mir cards.
Newspaper “News” reported that the banks of Kazakhstan and Vietnam stop accepting cards of the Russian payment system “Mir”.
In particular, the call center of the Vietnamese BIDV stated that they had stopped accepting Mir cards. The bank employee added that at the moment the financial institution continues to service Mastercard, VISA, Western Union, JCB and UnionPay cards. He stressed that the list does not include the Russian payment system.
In turn, Halyk Bank of Kazakhstan (Halyk Bank) also stopped accepting Mir cards. The press service of the financial organization added that these cards are not serviced either through ATMs or through terminals.
Representatives of the Central Bank noted that foreign partners independently decide on the issue of working with Russian Mir cards.
Recall that earlier Turkish Denizbank and Ishbank announced that they would stop servicing Russian Mir cards. This decision is connected with the anti-Russian sanctions of Great Britain and the United States.
