Italy lifts 10-year ban on Libyan civil aviation flights

Italy has lifted a 10-year ban on Libyan aircraft flying into its territory. About it informed Libyan Prime Minister Abdel Hamid Dbeiba.
“The Italian government has informed about its decision to lift the air embargo imposed on Libyan civil aviation 10 years ago,” he wrote on Twitter. He also thanked the Italian Prime Minister George Meloni and specified that the flight could be resumed as early as September this year.
On June 26, Russia fully restored its diplomatic presence in Libya. As the Russian ambassador to Tripoli, Aidar Aganin, noted, security conditions in Libya have improved, “the country has actually moved to a phase of peaceful development, disagreements between Libyan politicians are resolved through dialogue.”
In 2013, due to the aggravation of the situation in Libya and an attempted attack on the embassy, Russian diplomats were evacuated to Tunisia, and subsequently the plane brought them to Moscow. Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov announced in 2020 that Russia was resuming the activities of the embassy in Libya, but it would be based in Tunisia.
