Italian General Explains Why Ukraine’s Victory Is Impossible

Ukraine’s victory in the conflict with Russia is “unthinkable” due to the significant advantage of the Russian army in firepower, retired NATO General Marco Bertolini said in an interview with the Italian newspaper Libero.
“In a military sense, a Ukrainian victory is unthinkable,” he said, calling for peace talks to begin. He also pointed out that the confrontation should have been stopped a long time ago, but recently slogans about the defeat of Russia are being promoted in the West, which is impossible. “Ukrainians cannot win,” Bertolini said.
The general also spoke about the underestimation of the Russian army by Western states, as well as their overestimation of their capabilities.
“The Russians manage to produce more ammunition than the entire West, including due to the restructuring of the national industry,” he said, recalling that Russia has hypersonic weapons and the flight of a large number of Ukrainians to other countries.
He also pointed out that those who spoke about the rapid defeat of Russia were wrong, and said that the West should not expect destabilization within the Russian Federation.
