It took more than 200 hours to agree on the declaration of the G20 summit, RIA Novosti reports citing Indian Sherpa Amitabh Kant.

According to the diplomat, the negotiations went on almost non-stop, and at a certain stage, none of the participants expected that it would be possible to reach an agreement. Kant said that bilateral meetings between state representatives were very helpful.

Earlier, Russia’s Sherpa in the G-20, Svetlana Lukash, said that the summit was one of the most difficult in the almost fifteen-year history of the forum.

This was due to the presence of contradictions on the issue of the conflict in Ukraine, climate and energy.

As RIA Novosti notes, during India’s presidency of the G20, no final statements were issued at any of the group’s events, as they could not be agreed upon.
