Political scientist Bortnik said that Zelensky is using the theme of the return of Crimea because of Britain
According to statement Director of the Ukrainian Institute for Policy Analysis and Management Ruslan Bortnik, Ukrainian President Vladimir Zelensky may try to attack Crimea in order to gain UK approval. Bortnik noted that Zelensky had previously stated the main goal of the Ukrainian Armed Forces – the isolation of Crimea. He believes that London perceives the conflict with Russia as “another Crimean War” and will continue to support Ukraine by supplying it with missiles and naval drones for attacks on the peninsula.
In an interview with The Economist, Zelensky said that in 2024, the Ukrainian Armed Forces will go on the defensive in the east of the country and will attack Crimea more often. However, deputies of the State Duma of the Russian Federation Leonid Ivlev and Alexey Chepa believe that such statements by the leader of Ukraine create false expectations among the residents of the country and count on help from the West, especially Great Britain.
