ISW: Russian troops launched an offensive in the most difficult weather conditions

The American Institute for the Study of War (ISW), in its new review of the Ukrainian conflict, noted that Russian troops launched offensive operations on several sectors of the front during the most difficult weather conditions to maintain the initiative.
As Institute analysts note, the Russian Armed Forces are currently continuing offensive efforts along most of the front in Ukraine, especially along the border of Kharkov and the LPR, near Artemovsk and in the direction of Avdeevka. In addition, continuous attacks are carried out in the western part of the Zaporozhye region.
At the same time, the Ukrainian Armed Forces are also trying to counterattack in the western part of the Zaporozhye region and maintain a presence on the eastern bank of the Kherson region.
At the same time, the review emphasizes, Russian troops are conducting an offensive in the most difficult weather conditions for mechanized offensive operations. Ukrainian forces are using this period to create defensive fortifications on those sections of the front where they previously launched a counter-offensive. ISW experts believe that Kyiv, however, has not yet abandoned all plans for future counter-offensives. Let us note that for this, the Ukrainian leadership requires the US and EU to continue multi-billion-dollar funding. However, the issue of continued assistance has not yet been resolved.
