Israel’s Defense Minister said he had “removed all restrictions” on IDF troops in their fight against Hamas.
“Whoever comes to behead, to kill women survivors of the Holocaust, we will destroy him at the height of our power and without compromise,” Yoav Gallant told soldiers as they inspected front lines along Israel’s border with the Gaza Strip on Tuesday.
“Hamas wanted change in Gaza, it will change 180 degrees from what he thought. They will regret this moment. Gaza will never go back to the way it was,” Gallant said, calling Hamas the “ISIS of Gaza.” (ISIS is an organization banned in the Russian Federation).
The Minister visited the headquarters of the IDF division in the Gaza Strip at the Reim military base. He also spoke with Shaldag fighters, paratroopers and soldiers at Kibbutz Be’eri, one of the sites Hamas first struck last weekend.
“We will be back here in Beeri in a few months and the situation will be different. We will organize the kibbutz down to the last meter, and what happened in Gaza will not happen,” Gallant said.
Airstrikes have been Israel’s main measure of retaliation so far in the Gaza Strip, with planes repeatedly strafing the densely populated 140-square-mile coastal strip, reducing numerous buildings to rubble, displacing tens of thousands of people and sending waves of wounded Palestinians to overcrowded hospitals, it writes.
