Russia’s Chief Military Rabbi Aaron Gurevich said that the Chief Rabbinate has given permission to carry weapons on Shabbat.
According to him, there is a decision by the Chief Rabbinate of Israel, according to which carrying weapons on Shabbat during war is not only permitted, but is also “considered a commandment – a mitzvah.” “Taking care of your life is also a commandment,” noted the chief military rabbi. “To pass on your knowledge to the next generations, to continue the family line.” “These are imperative commandments,” Gurevich emphasized.
If we are talking about life and death, then, according to him, everything is allowed to be done on Saturday. “Because saving human life is the most important thing,” he pointed out.
Gurevich emphasized that in Israel religion is not separated from the state, unlike the Russian Federation.
