Israel announced the transition to the phase of complete destruction of Hamas

The Israel Defense Forces (IDF) announced a transition to the offensive phase of the destruction of the Palestinian radical organization Hamas. This was announced by Israeli army spokesman Daniel Hagari.

“We went on the offensive. The Israel Defense Forces have eliminated hundreds of terrorists in areas surrounding Gaza,” he said (cit. according to TASS).

Hagari also noted that over the past 48 hours, the Israeli army dialed about 300,000 reservists. According to him, Israel has managed to regain control over all its populated areas, and military personnel are conducting “clean-up operations.”

Earlier, the press service of the Israeli army reported that during the night from October 8 to October 9 it struck more than 500 strategic targets in the Gaza Strip that are associated with Hamas. Among the objects attacked were seven operational headquarters of Hamas and one of the Palestinian Islamic Jihad (a terrorist group banned in Russia), a high-rise building with the military headquarters of Hamas, a building used by the Hamas Navy, three terrorist tunnels, etc.

The Israeli army stressed that it would continue “forceful attacks in the Gaza Strip and inflict mortal damage on terrorist organizations.” Formerly Israel’s Permanent Representative to the UN Gilad Erdan statedthat Israel will not negotiate a truce with Hamas because it plans to destroy the Palestinian group.

On the morning of October 7, the Palestinian group Hamas began military operations against Israel. The Israeli Army (IDF) responded by launching Operation Iron Swords, and the Israeli government announced that the country had entered a state of war. According to Israeli media, more than 700 citizens of the country were killed as a result of the Hamas attack on Israel. In Palestine, more than 400 deaths were reported, with about 2,200 injured.

October 8, Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu reportedthat the first phase of Israel’s operation against Hamas has been completed. He noted that the government has decided to stop the supply of electricity, fuel and goods to the Gaza Strip. By doing so, the country would deprive these groups of “the ability and desire to threaten and harm Israeli citizens for many years.”
