The 60th theater season promises meetings with young directors and screenplays
The play “104 pages about love” based on the play by Edvard Radzinsky Taganka Theater opened the 60th season. On the same day, a 20-minute gathering of the troupe took place. It can be entered for brevity in the Guinness Book of Records. If it weren’t for the TV journalists who asked the director of the theater Irina Apeksimova to present diplomas to the employees on camera, they would have done it in 15 minutes.
In the stalls, where the entire theater group is located, Apeksimova went out without a microphone. Now this is a rarity. She began with a quote from Stanislavsky, who believed that a theater without success is not a theater, while referring to the voice assistant Alice, who threw this phrase. Then she presented a young replenishment – three actresses and two actors, one of whom was absent, for which she received an assessment in absentia from her senior colleagues: “A good start.” And then – briefly about the plans.
Two projects are being launched for the theatre’s anniversary. The first was born from the director’s laboratory of open rehearsals and will be held under the motto “Taganka – 60”. It involves an appeal to performances that have become legends. As part of the second project, In Search of a Genre, several evenings will be held dedicated to the poets and actors who have made themselves known on this stage and made the Taganka Theater famous. These are Vysotsky, Filatov, Gubenko, Voznesensky, Yevtushenko. The second part of the project is related to the competition of young poets. From October 1, applications will be accepted from all over the country, and on the day of the 60th anniversary of the collective – April 23 – the poems of the winners will be read by theater actors.
The very next day after the gathering of the troupe, the premiere of “The Berth” based on the script by Gennady Shpalikov directed by Sergei Tonyshev is scheduled on the Stage on Fakelnaya. It’s about the 60s. On August 23, another “torch” premiere will take place, but already about the 1930s: “Three + Three” will be staged by Alexander Pronkin based on the first play by Alexei Arbuzov “Six Beloved”. And this is not the only appeal to Arbuzov’s playwright, which was popular in the Soviet years. There will also be “My Poor Marat”, familiar to some of the audience from open rehearsals.
The repertoire is expected to be very original: “Merry Fellows” directed by Denis Azarov, “Lady Macbeth of the Mtsensk District” based on Leskov, “Warsaw Melody” by Leonid Zorin, “Figaro” directed by Denis Bokuradze. “Long farewell” based on the film masterpiece of the same name by Kira Muratova will be staged by Alexander Karpushin. Georgy Smirnov, apparently, will stage Hoffmann’s Nutcracker in an adult way, not for small children. Svetlana Zemlyakova will stage the play “Wooden Horses” based on Fyodor Abramov. The performance of the same name by Yuri Lyubimov appeared in 1974, on the occasion of the tenth anniversary of the young Taganka. “Casting 81/18” is being prepared with the participation of actresses who will talk about the older generation of colleagues and their possibly last roles. The film mood in the new theatrical season at Taganka will definitely be provided.
Irina Apeksimova concluded her speech with the words: “I hope there are no questions. I won’t answer anyway.” She cited the phrase “On the horses!” Learned at the Moscow Art Theater School-Studio, crossed herself and quickly left the auditorium. It is difficult to live without an artistic director and chief director. If they were, it would certainly not have been limited to a 20-minute solo.
