Iraqi Prime Minister Mohammed al-Sudani plans to visit Moscow in the next few weeks. About it reported at the Iraqi Foreign Ministry.

“Al-Sudani will visit Moscow over the next few weeks. Discussions between the two sides during the visit will provide an opportunity to discuss bilateral cooperation between the two sides in the political and economic fields,” the statement said.

Today, Iraqi Foreign Minister Fuad Hussein met with his Russian counterpart Sergei Lavrov on the sidelines of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly. It is clarified that during the meeting the parties discussed “prospects for joint cooperation and development of bilateral relations.”

The Iraqi prime minister’s plans to visit Russia were announced in July. Then the Russian Ambassador to the Republic Elbrus Kurtashev statedthat the Russian Federation asked the Iraqi side to determine the appropriate timing of the visit for the prime minister, and the Russian side would then choose a suitable date.

The ambassador clarified that the visit of the Iraqi prime minister is an opportunity to discuss, in particular, economic issues between the countries, as well as “political topics and the situation in the world and the region.” Prior to this, the prime minister and the ambassador held a meeting where the dates of the upcoming visit were also discussed.
