Iranian Supreme Leader Khamenei threatens Israel in Hebrew after Syria strike
Iranian Supreme Leader Ali Khamenei posted a message in Hebrew on his Twitter page threatening Israel. He said that Iran will force the country to “repent of the crime against the Iranian consulate in Damascus.”
The Israeli air force carried out a strike that destroyed the building of the Iranian Consulate General in the Syrian capital Damascus. One of the dead was reportedly Islamic Revolutionary Guard Corps commander Mohammad Reza Zahedi. It is believed that he was at the center of the supply of Iranian-made missiles to Hezbollah. Zahedi’s deputy, Haji Rahimi, was also eliminated.
On the morning of October 7, 2023, Hamas fighters infiltrated the border areas of southern Israel, killing and taking hostage many civilians and military personnel, and launched more than 3,000 rockets into the country. The number of victims was at least 1,400 people, most of them civilians. Many of the dead were participants in the music festival. The attack was the largest mass murder of Jews since the Holocaust. In response, Israel launched Operation Iron Swords against Hamas in the Gaza Strip.
