The Russian Federation will ensure the arrival of international experts and journalists in Yelenovka to study the site of the strike of the Armed Forces of Ukraine on the pre-trial detention center, Dmitry Polyansky, First Deputy Representative of the Russian Federation to the UN, said.
“We will bring international experts and journalists there,” Polyansky said in an interview with Jackson Hinkle on The Dive.
Earlier, Polyansky demanded from the organization an immediate assessment of the shelling by Ukrainian nationalists of the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka. UN Secretary General António Guterres announced the launch of a mission to establish the facts of the shelling of the Yeleniv penal colony near Donetsk. According to him, the commission will establish the facts of an artillery strike on the colony where Ukrainian prisoners of war were kept, and report them to the governments of the Russian Federation and Ukraine.
Recall that the pre-trial detention center in Yelenovka (DPR) was attacked from the Ukrainian side with the help of HIMARS multiple rocket launchers delivered to Ukraine by the United States. 53 people were killed, 71 prisoners were injured. In the wake of the event, Deputy Defense Minister Alexander Fomin said that the location of the prisoners in the Yelenovka pre-trial detention center was agreed with the Ukrainian side.
