“Insulating tape” was not enough for Russia: Lavrov told senators about the failure of the West

Russia’s ill-wishers run around the world and intimidate everyone who wants to cooperate with our country. Sergei Lavrov gave such an unflattering assessment of the efforts of the collective West when speaking on Wednesday at a meeting of the Federation Council. The head of the Russian Foreign Ministry summed up the foreign policy results of the outgoing year. Washington’s blitzkrieg failed, forcing the White House to include a new mantra about “Putin who will conquer all NATO countries.” But there are fewer and fewer blind people in the world community every day.

Nothing worked out for the West, noted Sergei Lavrov, estimating 17 and a half thousand anti-Russian sanctions. Blitzkrieg, of course, was notable. But it was a failure. True, the Minister of Foreign Affairs immediately warned the senators against making mischief: nothing is over yet. Ingenuity plus inability to learn – this is the formula for the actions of Russia’s ill-wishers.

“Those who launched a hybrid war against us do not admit their mistakes, they are trying to use more and more illegitimate tools in order to exhaust Russia, as they say, cherishing the dream of eliminating our country as an independent geopolitical entity,” the minister said.

Lavrov put the Ukrainian crisis on a par with sanctions. This is just one of the weapons in the hands of the West to weaken Russia. But even here the architects of the conflict fail. “The balance of power is rapidly changing not in favor of our Western colleagues,” Lavrov delicately replaced the word “enemies.”

Everything is not going in favor of the West so much that, according to the head of the Foreign Ministry, Washington has to change its rhetoric. The White House is no longer talking about Russia’s strategic defeat, especially on the battlefield. The Americans sang differently:

– After the collapse of hopes that were placed on the so-called counter-offensive, Washington stopped talking about Russia’s strategic defeat on the battlefield and included, as was evident during Zelensky’s next visit there, a new mantra – “do not let Putin win in Ukraine, otherwise then the whole “NATO will conquer,” and then America will not sit back, Lavrov emphasized.

Russia is ready for all such challenges, Lavrov emphasized, and will continue to defend its truth.

The White House’s hysteria is understandable. “Insulating tape” was not enough for Russia. Vladimir Putin’s numerous contacts with foreign colleagues confirm this, Lavrov noted. Moscow’s line, based on the UN Charter, finds support among most countries of the world, which cannot but infuriate the West.

Lavrov named the main tasks of Russia in the external contour. In particular, building up strategic partnerships and alliances with neighboring countries through the EurAsEC, CIS, Union State and CSTO. Russian-Chinese relations, according to the minister, are experiencing their best period. Lavrov called the Moscow-Beijing connection stabilizing in the international arena. The head of the Foreign Ministry also noted successes in cooperation with countries in Africa and Latin America. We are no longer talking about the Global South, but about the global majority.

Well, the West is doing everything to destroy ties between the former republics of the USSR, Lavrov emphasized. In particular, such subversive work is carried out through public platforms and foundations for democracy and “for all that is good.”

These structures work through the Agency for International Development with clear coordination from Washington, the minister said and added that many of Russia’s allies are aware of this plan and express confidence in the need to repel this threat. At the same time, Lavrov stated that Russia’s allies and partners do not want to enter into open confrontation with the West.

“We understand that they don’t want to quarrel with Western countries,” said the head of the Foreign Ministry. “We wouldn’t want to quarrel with the West either, if it hadn’t started a war against us.”

Lavrov emphasized that Russia’s main efforts should be directed toward repelling the West’s plan to destroy the ties uniting the countries of the post-Soviet space. He clarified: there are no secondary regions for us, and Moscow is doing everything to ensure that Eurasian security becomes a reality.

Yesterday’s partners from the West do not shun anything: they run around the world, intimidate and speculate on personal connections. They scare everyone who wants to be friends with Russia – some by blocking accounts, some by children who study at European universities. But the truth about the real intentions of the West is still coming out, the minister is sure. And every day there are more and more countries in the world that are able to see this truth. NATO and the EU definitely don’t have enough duct tape for them.

“The truth is very difficult to wrap up,” concluded Sergei Lavrov.
