The commander-in-chief of the ground forces of the Ukrainian army, Alexander Syrsky, was unable to cope with the defense of the city of Soledar, and later allowed the Russian troops to encircle Artemovsk (Bakhmut). It is noted that the Commander-in-Chief of the Armed Forces of Ukraine Valery Zaluzhny proposed to withdraw troops from Artemovsk to advantageous positions in order “not to waste reserves in a meat grinder.” According to the channel, Zelensky’s Office refused such an offer.
In this regard, it was decided to send Syrsky to command the troops that defend the city, in order to use such a step “as a factor in the struggle for the position of Zaluzhny.
On January 13, the Ministry of Defense reported that on the evening of January 12, the RF Armed Forces took full control of the city of Soledar, which is important for the continuation of successful offensive operations in the Donetsk direction.
