Inflation in Russia accelerated to 0.19% from April 25 to May 2 – Kommersant

Inflation in Russia from April 25 to May 2 amounted to 0.19% after 0.10% a week earlier, said Rosstat. For the first time since mid-March, a decrease in prices for fruits and vegetables was recorded – by 0.8% per week. Since the beginning of May, consumer prices have increased by 0.05%, and by 2.18% since the beginning of 2023. According to Ministry of Economyfrom April 25 to May 2, inflation in annual terms slowed to 2.42%.

According to the Ministry of Economy, in the segment of food products, price growth over the specified period slowed down to 0.06% due to a decrease in the cost of fruits and vegetables. The decline in prices for dairy products resumed, the decline in prices for eggs accelerated, and the growth in the cost of meat products slowed down.

Prices for non-food products rose by 0.39%. Rising prices are observed for electrical and household appliances, cleaning products, building materials. The rate of growth in the cost of passenger cars increased to 0.82%. The price of clothing and footwear has fallen.

Price growth resumed in the segment of regulated, tourism and personal services (+0.16%) after falling by 0.01%. The cost of tourism services increased by 0.52% due to the resumption of growth in airfare for domestic flights. Meanwhile, the growth rate of prices for household services fell to 0.12%.

According to Rosstat, gasoline prices increased by 0.2 from April 25 to May 2, while diesel fuel prices remained virtually unchanged.

The head of the Ministry of Economy Maxim Reshetnikov said on April 14 that inflation in 2023 is projected at 5.3%. According to the estimates of the Central Bank, inflation this year will be 4.5-6.5%.
