Inflation in Germany slowed down slightly in August – Kommersant

Consumer prices in Germany grew up in August by 6.1% in annual terms. Such data today, August 30, published the Federal Statistical Office. Thus, inflation has slightly slowed down compared to July, when prices rose by 6.2%. At the same time, analysts polled by The Wall Street Journal expected slightly lower inflation – 6%.
Growth in energy prices accelerated, amounting to 8.3% against 5.7% a month earlier. Food prices rose by 9% in August (against 11% in July). According to Carsten Brzeska, Head of Global Macroeconomics at Dutch bank ING, inflation in Germany could drop to 3% by the end of the year.
Earlier it was reported that after a jump in inflation last year in Germany, quite significantly grew up salaries – in the second quarter of this year they increased by a record 6.6%.
