Indonesia is interested in organizing a meeting between Putin and Zelensky at the G20 summit

Indonesia is interested in hosting a meeting between the presidents of Russia and Ukraine, Vladimir Putin and Vladimir Zelensky, on the sidelines of the G20 summit in November, if both leaders take part in person, informed TASS with reference to the Ambassador of Indonesia to the Russian Federation Jose Tavares.

“Invitations were extended long ago by the President of Indonesia [Джоко Видодо] Presidents of Russia and Ukraine. If they take part in the G20 summit in Bali, then, of course, for [организации встречи] there will be an opportunity. And Indonesia is more than ready to facilitate such a meeting. Of course, we would like this if the presidents come,” the ambassador said.

He noted that Indonesia, in the event of President Putin’s presence in person, is ready to ensure his safety.

August 9 “RIA Novosti” with reference to the statement of the adviser to the head of Zelensky’s office Mikhail Podolyak reportedthat the head of state can attend the G20 summit in Indonesia if Putin is present there. According to Podolyak, since the beginning of the special operation, Zelensky has been communicating with foreign politicians mainly via video conference calls, but “if Putin is present, then, of course, we will need to think about the need for our presence.”

At a daily briefing, when asked by journalists about Podolyak’s statement, Russian presidential spokesman Dmitry Peskov noted that there were no prerequisites for a meeting of the two leaders at the G20 summit, since the Ukrainian side had actually withdrawn from the negotiation process.

June 27, Assistant to the President of Russia Yuri Ushakov toldthat Putin can take part in the G20 summit, which will be held November 15-16 in Indonesia (Bali). A corresponding invitation was received from Indonesia, which chairs the G20, and Russia confirmed its participation in the summit.
