The source explained Modi’s decision by saying that “Russian President Vladimir Putin will not attend the BRICS summit.”
He added that India had agreed on plans to expand the BRICS.
Earlier, Reuters wrote that Narendra Modi is likely to attend the summit online. It was also known that the Russian Federation and China were interested in discussing the expansion of the BRICS, while India had doubts about this.
Prior to this, the office of the President of South Africa reported that the BRICS summit will be visited by the leaders of China, Brazil, India and South Africa. The Russian Federation will be represented by Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov.
Kremlin spokesman Dmitry Peskov said that the head of the Russian Federation decided to participate in the BRICS summit online as a full-fledged participant.
