The largest Indian oil refiner refused to accept Russian tankers due to US sanctions

Informed sources said that India’s largest oil refining operator Reliance Industries is no longer accepting tankers from the Russian Sovcomflot.

According to sources, this decision was made by the company against the background of new US sanctions, which included Sovcomflot and 14 oil tankers transporting Russian petroleum products.

Reliance Industries explained this decision by respecting its own political and commercial interests, as well as the introduction of new US sanctions.

“Indian oil refineries, trying to avoid a negative reaction from Washington, are acting more and more cautiously… As a result, the Indian government will decide whether to allow sanctioned ships into ports,” the source said.
